APIS congratulates the Honorable Peter Sakai,
the 2006 recipient of the
Justice David Wellington Chew Award


Recognizing Judge Peter Sakai's many years of public service and leadership within the Asian-Pacific American community, APIS is proud to present Judge Sakai with the 2006 Justice David Wellington Chew Award.

Established in 2002, the Justice Chew Award honors those individuals whose selfless contributions benefit the Asian-Pacific American legal community of Texas. The award was named after Justice Chew for his pioneering achievements as one of the earliest Asian Americans in the Texas appellate judiciary.

Past recipients of the Award include the Honorable Brenda Rhoades, U.S. Bankruptcy Court (Eastern District of Texas); Daniel David Hu, Deputy Chief, Civil Division, U.S. Attorney’s Office (Southern District of Texas); and the Honorable Karen Gren Johnson, Judge of the 95th District Court, Dallas County, Texas.
